QUANTAS SEBEDES

This song was written in the 13th century by Martin Codax. It is sung in a language known as Galician. This video was taken by Starwind Evensong at the 2016 Florida Renaissance Festival.

Mr. Dowland's Midnight from English Lutenist/Composer John Dowland (1563-1626).
Performed on the Viol by Jay Michaels. His instrument was designed and built by Nicolas Hambas  http://www.hambasdulcimers.com

THE RONDEAU

 

This Music is performed here on the Bowed Psaltery and the Cláirseach (the traditional wire-strung Gaelic Harp). The Rondeau was originally written for the court of Louis XV, King of France by Jean-Joseph Mouret (1682-1738).  It was used for many years as the theme for the PBS program Masterpiece Theater.   "Rondeau" is part of Mouret's  Symphonies and Fanfares for the King's Supper.

CANTIGA 166


The Harper and The Minstrel perform Cantiga 166 also known as "Como Poden". This tune comes from 13th Century Spain. It is played here on Recorder and an Early Renaissance style wire-strung Gothic Harp. The Cantigas de Santa Maria are a collection of over 4oo works composed during the reign of King Alfonso X (1221–1284). The Cantigas were written in honor of The Virgin Mary.

CANTIGA 100

The Harper and The Minstrel perform Cantiga 100 from 13th Century Spain, also known as Santa Maria.  This piece is played on the Recorder and Bowed Dulcimer.

THE HOBBIT DRINKING SONG

also known as "To The Pub & Back Again" & "Pour Me Another Pint"

Of the many songs played by The Harper and The Minstrel, The Hobbit Drinking Song is the one most requested. Written by Jay M. Michaels Copyright 2007 BMI. The song is performed here at the closing Pub Sing of The 2015 Hoggetowne Medieval Faire in Gainesville, Florida. Video by DarthAzzrael
